The government approved changes in the Coordination Council for the preparation of our country for membership in the Eurozone
The changes are also related to the new indicative date for membership - January 1, 2025
With its decree, the government adopted changes in PMS No. 168 of July 2015 for the establishment of a Coordination Council for the preparation of the Republic of Bulgaria for membership in the Eurozone, the press service of the Council of Ministers announced.
With the new decree, it is proposed that the Council be responsible for organizing and coordinating the practical preparation of the Republic of Bulgaria for membership in the Eurozone with a new indicative date for membership - January 1, 2025.
The changes are also aimed at specifying the functions and increasing the effectiveness of the Council in the implementation of its activities. An update of the functions and leadership of some of the working groups to the Coordination Council for the preparation of the Republic of Bulgaria is proposed, while at the same time a proposal is made for the formation of a new "Government securities" subgroup, which will be responsible for adapting the legal framework and systems for working with government securities from BGN to EUR.
The decree aims to further accelerate the work on the actual practical preparation of our country for the adoption of the euro, in view of the need to realize the goal of Bulgaria becoming a member of the eurozone from January 1, 2025.
