Rosen Hristov: We accept Greece as our important energy partner
The Bulgarian minister was a guest at the launch of the construction of the power plant in Alexandroupolis
"The energy crisis in Europe requires even closer cooperation and joint efforts between Bulgaria and Greece. This has brought us closer together so that we partner in many projects and policies. Greece is our partner not only because of the geographical location, but also because of our similar views on how to develop energy in the region". This was stated to the media by the Minister of Energy Rosen Hristov, who was a guest at the official launch of a project to build a gas power plant in Alexandroupolis, Greece.
He gave an example of the cooperation between Bulgaria and Greece in the adoption of policies at the European level, with the aim of stabilizing the gas market. According to him, both countries can achieve much more as partners than as competitors. Minister Hristov announced that after talks with his Greek colleague Kostas Skrekas, a memorandum for the Alexandroupolis - Burgas oil pipeline project will be signed very soon. A special guest at the event was the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who in his speech emphasized the good cooperation with Bulgaria in the field of energy.
The realization of the power plant in Alexandroupolis is a joint project of the Greek energy company PPC, DEPA and the company Kopelousos Group. The gas for the plant will be from the newly built liquefied gas terminal in Alexandroupolis, in which Bulgaria has a 20 percent stake and a reserved capacity of 1 billion cubic meters per year.
