The energy security of Bulgaria and the region was the focus of the meeting of Prime Minister Galab Donev with the US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Jeffrey Payatt. During their conversation in the Council of Ministers, the serious results achieved by our country for diversification of gas supply sources and routes were noted. This was announced today by the press service of the Council of Ministers.

Prime Minister Donev pointed to the purposeful work of the caretaker government for the timely completion of the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector. The Prime Minister also pointed out that as a result of the efforts made, the prices of natural gas were lowered. The prime minister was adamant that Bulgaria strives to use all opportunities for energy diversification and highlighted the desire of the official cabinet to ensure gas supplies at low prices not only for Bulgarian citizens and businesses, but also for the region for the upcoming winter months.

Prime Minister Galab Donev also noted that as an exporter of electricity, our country also plays a key role in the energy security of the Balkans. He also emphasized the constructive participation of Bulgaria in the interest of energy and transport connectivity in the region.

At the end of the conversation, Prime Minister Galab Donev expressed confidence that the strategic partnership between Bulgaria and the USA will continue to develop in all spheres of mutual interest.
