"Bulgarian Energy Holding" will make a contribution of BGN 456 million to the Electricity System Security Fund, which continues our promise to all businesses that electricity prices continue to be among the lowest in Europe. This was stated by the resigned Prime Minister Kiril Petkov before the start of today's government meeting, BTA reported.

As is known, employers' organizations have mainly two requests to the government from the point of view of energy compensation.

The first is that the compensation due to high electricity prices should remain at BGN 250/mwh. But the demand is that non-domestic consumers pay the electricity directly at this price, and not wait about a month for a refund of what they paid above the ceiling. The second demand is that the source of the compensations be the Power System Security Fund, and that it be fed for the purpose from the surplus profits of all power producers, not only the state ones. This is to be settled with a change in the Energy Act.

Petkov also noted that at today's meeting the cabinet will discuss three memorandums on the development of the business environment in Bulgaria, as well as proposed changes to the Commercial Law.

"Obstacles to the stabilization proceedings are being removed, which aims to give struggling traders a second chance to continue their activities. A very important measure. The introduction of bankruptcy and stabilization proceedings for natural persons - entrepreneurs, defined by law, is also a significant innovation. I hope that the broad public discussion gave a good result and will serve as a good basis for the adoption of the law by the National Assembly", commented the resigned Prime Minister.
