Innovation and Growth Minister Daniel Lorer discussed deepening trade and investment relations during a meeting with US companies in Washington. He presented the opportunities for investment in high-tech production and research and development in Bulgaria and stressed the increased interest of American companies in our country.

Minister Lorer participated in a round table with representatives of American business in Washington, organized by the American Chamber of Commerce. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the United States Department of Commerce, as well as representatives of companies in the field of mechanical engineering, biotechnology and pharmaceutical manufacturers, vehicle autonomy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and others.

Among the topics discussed were the development of the segment of autonomous cars and related development and application activities, as well as opportunities for cooperation with scientific and technical institutes in our country, including and the Center for Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (INSAIT) in Sofia. In the field of automotive industry, hydrogen storage technology and hydrogen-electric car charging stations were discussed.

Regarding the research in the field of molecular biology, Minister Lorer presented the opportunities that Bulgaria has in this area. The potential for aerospace research was also discussed at the meeting, as well as the possibility for Bulgaria to become a transfer location for the region of Central and Eastern Europe for shipments from Asia to Europe.

All participants in the discussion expressed a desire to further develop specific projects and initiatives. In the short term, a scientific delegation will be organized in Bulgaria at the Virginia Commonwealth University Patent Transfer and Commercialization Center, as well as state-level trade missions in Bulgaria in partnership with the United States Organization for International Cooperation (SIDO) and the Department of International Cooperation. US trade.

During his official visit, Minister Lorer discussed in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs of the US State Department the forthcoming signing of a Memorandum in Support of Economic Cooperation between Bulgaria and the United States.

According to him, the Memorandum will support economic cooperation between the two countries in their efforts to further strengthen existing ties by increasing trade participation and imports of goods, services and investments in Bulgaria from the US private sector.
