Socialist Party Alerts European Commissionabout Sofia Airport Concession, Urges Prime Minister to Suspend Procedure

The Bulgarian Socialist Party is alerting the European Commission's Directorate General for Competition about the concession procedure for Sofia Airport, MP Georgi Svilenski told a news conference on Tuesday.

The socialists say that the procedure violates EC rules for state aid. The draft concession agreement has clauses which envisage obligations for the concession operator (the Transport Minister) and the state for the provision of state aid.

Meanwhile in a letter the socialist party urges Prime Minister Boyko Borissov to suspend the procedure until the European Commission pronounces on it.
