“Sofiyska Voda“ will invest BGN 38.9 million in its water supply and sewerage network this year
The company plans to reduce losses to below 40 percent
The planned investments of “Sofiyska Voda “for this year amount to a total of BGN 38.9 million, announced Vasil Trenev, executive director of the Veolia Voda company. The work on the maintenance and optimization of the water supply network continues with a special focus on reducing water losses, which in 2020 were about 41.63 percent. This is three percent less than the previous year. The company aims to reduce the percentage of water loss to 39.8 for 2021. This year, 42 km of new water supply network will be built, BTA reported.
Stanislav Stanev, deputy executive director of Veolia Voda, said: ‘“Sofiyska Voda “is working on two very important projects to ensure long-term water quality. The first project is for the water supply of Pancharevo and Kokalyane. For several years we have been working on the gradual water supply from Beli Iskar to these two settlements. In 2020, a big step has been made for the implementation of this project. 2.1 km have been built - from the village of Bistritsa to the villa zone Belikata’. This year the work continues actively so that customers can drink the best water in Bulgaria from Beli Iskar, said Stanev.
Last year, “Sofiyska Voda“ built a facility to ensure the water supply of the high areas of Vladaya and Marchaevo, which at certain times of the year had quality concerns due to changes in the quality of river water intake. With this treatment plant we guarantee that they will always have good water quality, said Stanev.
The company announced that in the coming days the site of “Sofiyska Voda“ will have a new design, which will be much better visualized and will give many new opportunities to customers. The site will provide an opportunity to chat with the company's call center for faster customer service. There will be an opportunity for direct payments through the site through a new virtual terminal. “Sofiyska Voda“ will offer its customers a mobile application "My Water", which will have the same functionalities as the site. The application will provide a visualization of water consumption to each customer of the company who has remote water meters.
The company also reported that for the last ten years they have invested BGN 480 million. Over 6,000 km is the maintained water supply network, nearly 650 km - the new and replaced water mains. 90 km is the length of the new canals in the last ten years. Water losses for this period have been reduced by 60 but 40 percent. “Sofiyska Voda “provides 5,400 liters of purified water per second and performs over 10,000 analyzes for the quality of drinking water on over 50 indicators for control of the composition and quality per month, the company also reported.
