The pan-European defense policy, European competitiveness, the multiannual financial framework and cohesion policy were discussed by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and the President of the European Council Antonio Costa. At their meeting in Strasbourg, the two talked about topics that are to be discussed within the framework of the upcoming informal and regular meeting of the heads of state and government of the EU countries.

“We also discussed, of course, important issues related to the Union's agenda regarding enlargement. We confirmed our position, which is related to the countries of the Western Balkans - that we adhere to the principle of our own merits, as we have repeatedly and constantly stated," Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov also pointed out, quoted by the government press center.

After the meeting, in response to a journalist's question about the released Bulgarian sailors, Prime Minister Zhelyazkov stated that everything that needs to be done by the Bulgarian state is being done right now. The government plane is already flying and will bring them back from Oman, the Prime Minister added.
