The European Commission announced today that it is opening criminal proceedings against Bulgaria and 22 other EU countries for not fully implementing European cybersecurity rules. This was reported by BNT, citing a statement from Brussels.

EU countries had to introduce by October 17 the rules that affect critical sectors such as public electronic communications services, ICT service management, digital services, wastewater and waste management, healthcare, energy, transport, production of critical products, postal and courier services, and public administration. The full implementation of the legislation is important for improving resilience and the ability to respond to incidents, the statement notes.

Our country, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Cyprus, Latvia, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland and Sweden have two months to respond, after which the EC can continue with the criminal proceedings, the announcement adds.
