State-owned Bulgargaz is looking to buy up to 20 GWh of energy savings certificates. This is clear from a message on the company's page. The company is looking for offers from various energy companies that can provide the necessary certificates to the company.

"In case you have free short-term/long-term energy savings, please submit your best offer for their sale to Bulgargaz EAD by 16.02.2024 to email: tenders@bulgargaz.bg", it is written in the short message from the company.

A brief report by 3eNews on the occasion of the auctions for such certificates shows that the prices currently vary between BGN 15 and BGN 20 per megawatt hour. The rough calculation shows that "Bulgargaz" will have to pay at least BGN 300,000 for these 20 GWh savings. The certificates are issued under the Energy Efficiency Act, with the aim of showing what energy saving policies each obligee is pursuing.

At the moment, the market of certificates for energy savings in our country is poorly developed, but there is no lack of such deals. For example, the company "Overgaz" has even prepared a blank contract for the purchase and sale of the valuable documents. There are also several other energy companies that have improved their energy efficiency and have the right to sell such certificates. However, the market will be the first to develop due to European requirements. The administrator for issuing the certificates for energy savings is the Agency for Sustainable Energy Development.
