As of January 1, 2024, the thermal power plant (TPP) "Maritsa 3" JSC - Dimitrovgrad is increasing the wages of workers and employees by 15 percent. This was announced by the Chairman of the Board of Directors Yulian Semerdzhiev, quoted by BTA. He recalled that since October of this year, the provided food vouchers have also been doubled.

Currently, the average salary in the company is among the highest in the region. This trend will continue in the coming year. After the increase, the total annual amount paid for wages at the headquarters rises to BGN 7 million, the announcement states.

In 2024, TPP "Maritsa 3" JSC will continue to increase its workforce, and for this purpose it intends to open about 50 new jobs. This will strengthen its status as one of the largest employers in the region. However, the problem of finding qualified workers is becoming more and more noticeable. Both repair and operating personnel are lacking. The company provides opportunities for training and qualification, but despite this, the shortage of workers and employees with basic competence is felt.

In 2024, the challenges facing the sector will increase, as many changes are coming both nationally and internationally. We plan to continue the work on the started investments, which will provide better technical and environmental parameters of the plant, as well as new jobs, the plant adds.

It was last the subject of public attention, when on October 16 of this year, activists of the environmental protection organization "Greenpeace" wrote CRIME on one of the plant's cooling towers, naming it as the main culprit for the dirty air in Dimitrovgrad. In response, the management hired mountaineers, who two days later erased the inscription on the heat exchanger and painted the Bulgarian tricolor on it. On October 22, a protest by activists and a counter-protest by workers and employees took place again at the headquarters.
