Bulgarian exports to Libya last year increased by over 40% compared to 2021. This became clear during a meeting between the Minister of Economy and Industry Nikola Stoyanov and the Ambassador of the State of Libya to our country H.E. Abu Bakr Ahmad Said Salih.

"I believe that with joint efforts we will be able to restore the high level of bilateral economic relations between our two countries," said Minister Stoyanov. For his part, Ambassador Salih emphasized that "the most important task is to return the good cooperation to the level it was at years ago." The two discussed that in the field of education there have always been good traditions between our countries and defined the energy sector as a priority.

During the meeting, the economic minister and the Libyan ambassador commented on the holding of bilateral events with the participation of business representatives from both countries. Such forums will provide an opportunity for Bulgarian and Libyan companies to present their activities to each other, to get to know each other and to identify areas for future cooperation. "It is important to identify in advance the sectors of mutual interest, as well as companies that have the potential for joint projects," emphasized Nikola Stoyanov. The two agreed on joint actions to organize reciprocal visits accompanied by business forums to promote direct contacts between the two countries.

For 2022, bilateral trade between Bulgaria and Libya will reach over 215 million USD and Bulgarian exports are worth USD 197 million.
