A new system will control the movement of trains in the Sub-Balkans from July next year

A centralized dispatching system will control in real time the movement of trains on the 138-kilometer section from Svetovrachane to Sopot. This became clear during the inspection of its implementation, made by the Minister of Transport Georgi Todorov. Currently, the new system is located in the Unified Center for Train Traffic Management at Sofia Station. BGN 9,855,361 without VAT have been allocated for its implementation, and the deadline for implementation is July 2022.

There are 16 stations along the controlled route: Svetovrachane, Kremikovtsi, Yana, Stolnik, Sarantsi, Makotsevo, Dolno Kamartsi, Mirkovo, Zlatitsa, Pirdop, Anton, Koprivshtitsa, Stryama, Klisura, Hristo Danovo and Sopot.

"Dispatch centralization is essential for increasing security, improving train traffic and reducing the human factor in management," Todorov commented during the inspection.

Remote control will be performed by entering centralized commands. In this way, the dispatch center will determine routes for train and shunting movements. At the same time, real-time information on the condition of the signaling equipment and all elements of the security equipment will be received.

The system will track the location and movement of all trains in the controlled area. One of the important functions is the automatic ordering of train routes without the intervention of the operational staff.

Yesterday, the Minister of Transport also visited the Railway Traffic Management Center in Plovdiv. There he noted that the construction of modern management and security systems on the line Plovdiv-Burgas will significantly increase the safety of railway transport in the area. During his visit, Todorov got acquainted on the spot with the implementation of the project for construction of signaling and telecommunications systems between Plovdiv and Burgas, which started at the end of June this year. The total investment amounts to BGN 185 million.

At the Dispatch Center, NRIC Director General Krassimir Papukchiiski presented to Minister Todorov how similar systems operate in the Plovdiv-Svilengrad section. "From here, from one workplace, all 12 railway stations from Plovdiv to Svilengrad are managed," Papukchiiski explained.

Within the project, the entire section from Plovdiv to Bourgas will be equipped with a European train traffic management system, which includes a train control system and a radio communication system for voice and data transmission between the train and the railway stations. "With the introduction of intelligent transport systems, we limit the likelihood of the train going" red "or exceeding the speed limit. It is also expected to reduce the damage to the trains, which become the main reason for many of the delays, "said Krassimir Papukchiiski.

The European train traffic management system is compatible with the whole of the European Union, which guarantees the implementation of international rail transport on European corridors and the liberalization of the railway transport market in Europe. The same equipment will be built in all sections of the railway network, which are gradually being renovated.
