"There is an unprecedented situation, this has never happened - electricity prices are in the range of BGN 250-300 per megawatt-hour, permanently established, not only in Bulgaria but throughout Europe. Other countries are looking for solutions to compensate consumers. "Because of these high prices, such solutions have already been found in several countries. It is not just about business, but also about everyone who is on the free market in our country. Hospitals, kindergartens, schools and social institutions are also on the free market." This was explained by Vasil Velev, chairman of the Association of Industrial Capital in Bulgaria.

"We have proposed a mechanism for how to do this - the costs for some are revenues and profits for others. We have calculated that the Kozloduy NPP will realize excessive profits above the planned ones - over one billion and 300 million, which fall from the sky. Not because they have become such Stakhanovites and because they have discovered a world novelty, they are simply doing what they have been doing for 40 years, nothing different. This money will be wasted, as is usually the case in the energy sector, and an example of this is the auction that was announced today on the eve of the weekend, so that not enough participants can be prepared and so energy can be exported abroad and the price in Bulgaria to continue to grow. That is why we call for this auction to be canceled. We continue to insist on resignations in the energy sector, because today's tender is another proof of this need. "The Free Energy Market Association also demanded the cancellation of the tender with its opinion.

Velev reassured the people that "at the moment the households in our country are on a regulated market and are protected", as the price of electricity for them will not increase. However, this is not the case with goods and services, which continue to rise in price.
