We will do our best to intervene at the most appropriate moment in order to secure good prices for the Bulgarian natural gas market, Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova told the energy committee in Parliament, Focus News Agency reports.
She told MPs that after the agreement between the European Commission and Gazprom, a letter with two proposed amendments was sent to Bulgargaz on August 6. “One concerns possibilities of changing the mechanism for price renegotiation,” Petkova said, adding that the other one is related to the delivery point.
The EC has made it possible for member states that have contracts with Gazprom to negotiate every two years, the first mandatory condition is related to natural gas prices at the borders of Germany, France and Italy, the minister explained. If no agreement is reached within 120 days, the rules provide for arbitration.
She promised to do everything possible for the Ministry of Energy to intervene at the most appropriate moment in order to secure good gas prices for the Bulgarian market.
