"Energo Pro Bulgaria" enters the free energy market
Company requested ten-year license
Company motivated the term of license by market development, improving of the new rules for electricity trading and the creation of balancing groups (associations of energy traders who buy surpluses and cover the shortage of consumer groups on the open market – editor’s note).
"Our idea after analysis and market research to offer electricity to end-users," said Executive Director of "Energo Pro Bulgaria" Boyan Karshakov before 3E. "Energo Pro Bulgaria" is the largest private producer of hydropower. Company owns 103 MW capacity with annual generation of 255 MWh and currently sells most of its energy at regulated prices and part at the free market as a producer.
Currently on the free market of energy operate 90 companies, which consume about 16% of the electricity produced in Bulgaria. After changing the parameters for protected customers by amendments of the Energy Act it is expected the number to increase.
