Welcome Spring Alive, Watch Birds Returning, Eco Organisation Says
The idea is to attract the interest of children and elders towards nature and its preservation through the onset of spring
Let's welcome spring alive by observing the return of migrating birds, thus becoming part of the largest spring observation of birds in Europe, the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds suggest in their website. The initiative is part of the Spring Live educational campaign which is to be launched on March 1.
It is organized by the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds and the BirdLife International conservation organisation. The idea is to attract the interest of children and elders towards nature and its preservation through the onset of spring. Current participants in the project include BirdLife International partners from 39 states in Europe, Central Asia and Africa. Those who wish to participate should just look up and share their experience at the special campaign website - www.springalive.net.
Only the first obersations of five species of migrating birds should be recorded - white stork, barn swallow, common swift, cookoo and European bee-eater. The website also has a special section for biology teachers with a ready package of teaching aids.
