The Ministry of Energy, and Electricity System Operator EAD launched an inspection on the state of readiness of energy companies to provide cold reserves. The first two plants visited were AES Galabovo and Maritsa Iztok 2 TPP, the ministry’s press office said.
Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova found that both plants had the necessary coal reserves to produce electricity for the winter season. Maritsa Iztok 2 TPP currently has 650,000 tonnes of coal, while statutorily required to keep a stockpile of 560,000 tonnes, and AES Galabovo has over 400,000 tonnes of coals with a requirement for 280,000 tonnes.
Minister Petkova pointed out that that all necessary measures had been taken so that the enterprises required to keep a cold reserve could respond in emergency situations.
The inspection will continue until 10th November.
